Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the city's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accountants, ensuring their professional development and growth.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the city's financial records and transactions.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to city leadership for improved financial decision making.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to develop and monitor departmental budgets.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify and address any financial discrepancies or issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the city's financial processes.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills by effectively managing a team and promoting a positive work culture.
- Represent the city in financial matters and communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
