Position Overview
GPI is seeking full-time entry-level Construction Inspectors for our growing Connecticut operations. This role offers the flexibility to be involved in public projects based on your interests and provides an opportunity to become a key player within the inspection team. You will gain valuable experience across a variety of project types throughout the region while working in an engaging and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities
- Observe construction projects to identify and document work in accordance with approved contract documents, plans, and specifications.
- Prepare detailed daily reports that record daily activities and meet project requirements.
- Provide site support for on-site engineering subcontractors.
- Report contract changes and document any potential project issues.
- Monitor all on-site activities while representing GPI and the client.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to comprehend contract documents, plans, and specifications and to effectively communicate with construction personnel and contractors.
- Understanding of shop drawings, material specifications, basic electrical concepts, mechanical operations, and process control, with a willingness to ask for help when needed.
- B.S. Diploma and a strong interest in gaining experience with inspections on large, multi-discipline projects.
- Valid driver's license is required, accompanied by a clean motor vehicle report (MVR).
- Possession of a personal vehicle for job site use.
- Ability to read, write, and understand plans and directions in English.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
- Capability to stand for a minimum of 3 hours up to 8 hours daily.
- Ability to traverse a construction job site with uneven ground and varied elevation.
- Willingness to wear GPI-required PPE (hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles) while working.
- Ability to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds.
