We are also recognized as an EC&M Top 20 Electrical Design Firm delivering exceptional services nationwide. In this role, under the close and immediate supervision of an engineering mentor, Entry Level Engineers perform routine aspects of engineering assignments, including basic calculations, studies, drawing preparation, and technical support. This position is designed to foster professional development and the application of core engineering principles, while contributing to a well-balanced, inclusive, and innovative work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of assigned client standards, policies, and procedures by studying design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes.
- Learn and comply with Commonwealth Associates’ quality program.
- Support continuous improvement and change management by proactively offering new ideas for process and practice innovations.
- Take ownership of professional development with a focus on high-quality performance, seeking guidance and mentorship from experienced engineers.
- Attend internal and external client meetings, conference calls, and site visits alongside a mentor.
- Represent the company at career fairs in collaboration with the Business Development department.
- Support internal project teams while gaining an understanding of external clients’ interests, expectations, and drivers.
- Coordinate with project teams, cross-functional groups, and administrative staff to provide information, assist with task coordination, and prepare documents.
- Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering projects.
- Contribute to the preparation of engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
- Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and material selection.
- Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and engineering principles.
- Work within budgeted hours, schedules, and quality requirements.
- Complete expense reports and timesheets in a timely and accurate manner, seeking direction when conflicts arise.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of project scope management.
