Position Overview
Barr is seeking an electrical technician/designer to join our Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing, Minnesota team. In this hybrid role, you will support our engineering group on the detailed electrical design of industrial systems through drafting, creating electrical drawings, and designing power distribution systems and controls. You will collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines and may be required to visit client sites, such as industrial processing facilities and power plants (with appropriate safety training provided).
Compensation: Anticipated range of $23.00–27.00/hour (varies by experience, education, and skill level; eligible for a discretionary cash bonus). Hybrid: Role based in office with potential work-from-home flexibility. Travel expectation: Occasional field visits. Work environment: Industrial facilities with varied conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Use AutoCAD Electrical and other CADD software to create detailed electrical drawings for power distribution systems and controls for industrial facilities.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Two-year technical certificate or equivalent experience/coursework related to electrical design.
- Software: Proficiency with current versions of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Driver’s License: Possession of a current, valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in a design capacity on projects related to industrial electrical systems at a consulting engineering or industrial organization.
