Our client is actively seeking an experienced Petroleum Engineer to join their team in Sacramento, California, US. This role requires a highly skilled professional with a strong background in reservoir engineering, production engineering, and well design. You will be responsible for optimizing oil and gas extraction processes, evaluating reservoir potential, and implementing advanced recovery techniques to maximize production efficiency and economic viability. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of geological formations, and proficiency with industry-standard software for reservoir simulation and analysis. This is a key position supporting critical operational and strategic decisions within the oil and gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze reservoir data, including core samples, well logs, and production history, to assess reservoir characteristics and potential.
- Develop and implement strategies for optimizing oil and gas production from existing wells.
- Design and oversee the drilling, completion, and workover of new wells.
- Perform reservoir simulations and economic evaluations to forecast future production and identify opportunities.
- Recommend and implement enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques.
- Monitor well performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and other engineers to develop integrated field development plans.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Evaluate new technologies and methodologies for improving exploration and production operations.
- Manage project timelines and budgets for assigned engineering tasks.
- Conduct field visits as necessary to oversee operations and gather data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree: in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in petroleum engineering, with a focus on reservoir or production engineering.
- Proficiency: with reservoir simulation software (e.g., Petrel, Eclipse, CMG).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of petrophysics, geology, and reservoir characterization techniques.
- Experience: with well testing, production optimization, and artificial lift methods.
- Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary groups.
- Knowledge: of relevant industry standards and best practices.
- License: Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field locations.
