Position Overview
The United Football League (UFL) is the professional spring football league born from the groundbreaking 2024 merger of the XFL and USFL. Backed by industry leaders such as RedBird Capital Partners, FOX, Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson, ESPN, and Mike Repole, the UFL is redefining the football landscape. The Team Marketing Director will be accountable for all team and league marketing and branding efforts within local markets – driving fan growth, building brand awareness, and executing tactical go-to-market strategies. Reports to: Sr Director, League & Field Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive team marketing campaigns that drive revenue, build brand awareness, acquire new fans, and retain current fans.
- Collaborate with the League Marketing Director to transform league strategy into a dynamic, season-long tactical plan—overseeing creative requests, email copy, and asset development.
- Partner with League Marketing, Content, and Creative teams to deliver innovative advertising, branding, promotional, and grassroots campaigns across multiple platforms.
- Work with the seasonal social media team to ensure digital content and messaging are strategically aligned and amplified.
- Lead local field marketing and grassroots activations—including fan engagement, community events, and social responsibility efforts—to enhance brand visibility and drive ticket sales.
- Coordinate with communications and content teams to drive earned media, engaging storytelling, and database growth initiatives.
- Oversee game day planning and execution, managing event logistics, production timelines, and on-site staff to ensure a compelling fan experience.
- Cultivate strong relationships with local partners, sponsors, and community organizations to foster brand loyalty and support overall marketing goals.
- Manage the team marketing budget while monitoring key performance metrics to achieve business objectives.
- Serve as the primary steward for the Defenders & Storm brand by executing both team and league marketing strategies.
Required Qualifications
- 6-8+ years of marketing management experience in consumer-facing sports, media, or entertainment industries.
- Expertise in marketing and digital technology trends, with a solid understanding of the sports entertainment landscape.
- Proven ability to create impactful campaigns, promotions, and digital assets with strategic brand judgment.
- Demonstrated success executing strategic marketing plans aligned with organizational goals and growth targets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while adapting to complex business challenges.
- Strong understanding of local market ticket buying habits and fan engagement strategies.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience collaborating across multiple departments and agencies.
- A self-starter with an energetic and resilient mindset, complemented by exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Superior verbal and written communication abilities.
