Solar Field Technician at QE Solar Trenton, NJ

Position Overview

The Solar Field Technician at QE Solar in Trenton, NJ is responsible for providing ongoing field services support for solar, battery storage (BESS), and other renewable energy systems. In this role, you will conduct routine site inspections, maintenance, equipment testing, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs while ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Compensation: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour | Employment Type: Full-time | Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair system failures; troubleshoot equipment issues and perform regular preventative maintenance on solar, BESS, and related electrical systems.
• Assist field teams with installation, removal, troubleshooting, and maintenance while supporting warranty and compliance matters.
• Ensure a safe, event‑free work environment through strict adherence to safety protocols (e.g., lock‑out/tag‑out, JHA, LDL testing).
• Prepare service tickets and reports for site visits, emergency repairs, equipment modifications, and investigation of equipment issues.
• Communicate with technical leads, project managers, and sub‑contractors to facilitate timely resolution of field operations and safety concerns.

Required Qualifications

• High School or Technical School Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 0‑2+ years of specialist technical experience with solar projects, BESS, or other renewable energy systems.
• Experience with data acquisition systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with 600v‑1500v systems and a strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and current NFPA‑70e requirements.
• Certifications such as NABCEP PV Installer, inverter/BESS manufacturer certifications, Thermography (Level 1), OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E courses, and CPR/First Aid.
• Familiarity with IT/networking protocols including RS485, Modbus, and TCP/IP.
