Position Overview
The Jr Developer Program is a unique employment opportunity that offers excellent mentoring throughout the year – part-time (16 hrs/week) during school and full-time (40 hrs/week) during summer. Interns will be immersed in Amazon's comiXology team, gaining real-life software development experience with the prospect of transitioning into a full-time role in NYC upon successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Work part-time during the school year (16 hrs/week) and full-time during summer (40 hrs/week) with flexible schedules adjusted each quarter.
- Receive mentorship from full-time software developers to build real-life programming experience.
- Contribute as a principal team member on software projects, preparing for a post-graduation career.
- Engage actively in a program that bridges academic learning with practical industry challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program in Computer Science or a related STEM discipline.
- Ability to work 16 hrs/week during school sessions and 40 hrs/week during summer.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, C/C++, or Python.
- Understanding of Computer Science fundamentals like object-oriented design, algorithm design, data structures, problem solving and complexity analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Java or another object-oriented programming language.
- Background in optimization mathematics such as linear programming or nonlinear optimization.
- Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
- Capacity to handle ambiguous problems and think abstractly.
