Job Description

Position Overview

The Aerospace Corporation, a trusted partner to the nation’s space programs, is seeking a skilled Cloud-Native and Microservices Developer. As part of the Data-centric Platforms and Architectures Department, you will design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and resilient applications and data platforms in a cloud environment. This full-time role based in Colorado Springs, CO (100% onsite) offers the unique opportunity to work on innovative projects for defense, civil, and commercial space customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and collaborate with multi-functional teams to build and deploy prototypes supporting the customer’s mission using cloud services or on-premise infrastructure.
  • Design data-intensive, cloud-native applications addressing some of the most challenging problems in the space enterprise.
  • Interface directly with product owners and customers to refine solutions for complex challenges.
  • Guide customers through assessments of legacy application environments and provide recommendations for modernization and migration to the cloud.
  • Collaborate with National Security Space, United States Space Force, and other Department of Defense customers while staying up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development, cloud-native development, or data architecture.
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing data-intensive cloud-native applications with a microservices architecture.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and design documents.
  • Proficiency in building scalable microservices using programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go and developing robust RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and software upgrade skills to ensure optimal performance.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and the ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance (US citizenship is required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
  • Knowledge of semantic data management or graph databases (e.g., Neo4J, AWS Neptune).
  • Experience with creating and maintaining organizational data management policies.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL), ETL processes, data integration tools (Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Denodo, or Palantir’s Warp Core), and familiarity with monitoring and tracing technologies.
