Position Overview

Heart of America Foundation is on a mission to transform learning spaces and tell powerful stories. As a Marketing Content Specialist, you will be at the heart of our storytelling—crafting compelling content across digital and traditional channels to showcase the hundreds of school transformations we lead nationwide. This role is a unique opportunity to shape how the world sees our work and the communities we serve. Job Location: Hybrid (Washington, DC or Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a content strategy that aligns with organizational goals and campaign timelines.
  • Manage an editorial calendar across platforms including website, email, social media, and print.
  • Write, edit, and proofread high-quality content ranging from blog posts and email marketing to donor communications and campaign materials.
  • Design compelling imagery and graphics that bring our unique stories to life.
  • Ensure all content meets brand guidelines, SEO best practices, and legal requirements while being tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate content distribution via multiple channels, including managing website content on WordPress.
  • Track performance and engagement using analytics tools and report insights to refine content strategy.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, managing budgets, timelines, and resources for content initiatives.
  • Support on-site projects and events as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in content creation, journalism, marketing, or communications, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a proven ability to manage editorial calendars and cross-channel campaigns.
  • Proficiency with WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and a strong understanding of SEO and digital engagement metrics.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a passion for community-centered storytelling.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: $60,000 - $68,000, commensurate with experience.
