Job Description
Position Overview
Join our team as an Accountant – Asset Management at King County Housing Authority (KCHA) and make a meaningful impact in affordable housing. This position, reporting to a Senior Asset Manager at our Central Office in Tukwila, WA, plays a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely banking operations, and robust account management for over 45 properties and 180+ bank accounts. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee over 180 government and commercial bank accounts.
- Initiate and ensure timely release of outgoing wire payments for accounts payable, payroll, debt service, replacement reserve, and excess cash for over 45 properties weekly.
- Prepare and post monthly financial information, including journal entries, ledgers, and summary reports to the KCHA general ledger.
- Perform daily, monthly, and year-end reconciliations while resolving account issues and maintaining clear communications with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with third-party property management companies and respond to inquiries regarding account operations and electronic payment services.
- Facilitate the opening and closing of bank accounts and ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, economics, finance, or a related field and moderate professional experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to multitask and resolve complex issues.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using MS Office programs, automated accounting systems, and related database software; plus consent to required assessments and background checks.
