Key Responsibilities

  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Prepare/Review calculations for loads.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of codes.
  • Edit specifications to reflect project requirements.
  • Select and schedule equipment.
  • Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for applications.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (MEP/FP, Arch, Struct, etc.).
  • Respond to RFI’s for the project and accurately review submittals.
  • Apply risk management procedures daily to minimize EXP’s and clients’ exposure.
  • Manage work planning and design process in accordance with available hours.
  • Understand the scopes of SD, DD, and CD level documents and deliver appropriate documentation.
  • Collaborate with PC, PM, and clients to meet scheduled project milestones across multiple projects.
  • Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc.).
  • Provide existing EXP details relevant to projects as needed.
  • Direct and mentor design-level staff on daily responsibilities.
  • Perform at a responsible charge level to meet EXP’s design and quality standards.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of all calculations by designers and provide guidance.
  • Determine the content of drawings and specifications to meet the scope of work.
  • Develop and monitor work plans in conjunction with other PMs.
  • Review code-related items with designers to ensure compliance.
  • Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  • Write studies and reports for systems on projects.
  • Draft sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW, and HW systems.
  • Apply concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, and variable & constant flow systems.
  • Oversee air side systems including CV, VAV, coil selection, and fan selection.
  • Manage hydronic systems such as hot, chilled condenser, and steam.
  • Utilize a thorough understanding of psychometrics on every project.
  • Select and analyze advanced equipment including chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, HEPA filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumps.
  • Apply total energy concepts effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Must have strong leadership skills and good communication capabilities
  • Building design experience is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualifications: EIT or Registered PE preferred
  • Preferred experience in data center, mission critical, and/or telecom industry
