Position Overview

Location: Baltimore, MD
Salary: $175,000-$210,000 annually plus bonus opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Business Analytics to help shape transformational decisions that will redefine how our organization operates, engages our community, and achieves sustained excellence on and off the field. In this role, you will advance data-driven decision-making, drive revenue growth, enhance fan engagement, and improve operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape the Game Plan (Data Strategy and Roadmap)
  • Partner with business stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive data roadmap centered on establishing a single source of truth, enabling data-driven decision-making, and improving organizational transparency and accountability.
  • Assess and evolve the Orioles' data tech stack (CRM; data warehouse integrating Ticketing, CRM, Concessions, and Marketing data; etc.) to enhance capabilities, efficiency, and adoption across the business.
  • Ensure data infrastructure, tools, and processes comply with MLB data governance and privacy policies.
  • Guide Big Decisions (Analytics and Insights) by designing and delivering executive-level dashboards and reports that track KPIs and provide timely visibility into business performance.
  • Lead predictive modeling efforts to inform strategic decisions such as fan retention, purchase propensity, and pricing optimization.
  • Execute high-impact analyses across Ticketing, Concessions & Retail, and Marketing, including pricing, product mix, and buyer-type insights, and distill findings into concise, actionable recommendations.
  • Support Sponsorship initiatives through category and asset valuation analyses, consumer and brand research, and performance tracking and reporting.
  • Strengthen collaboration, efficiency, and impact by standardizing reporting frameworks and research methodologies.
  • Partner with Strategy to transform data into meaningful insights that spur business action.
  • Lead and inspire the team by managing, mentoring, and developing a high-performing group of technical specialists, including Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Analysts.
  • Foster a culture of analytical excellence, integrity, and curiosity.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science) with a strong academic record; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or data engineering, preferably within Sports and/or Media & Entertainment.
  • Exceptional ability to distill and interpret raw data to offer creative, practical, and actionable insights, with experience making data accessible to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in building and managing a data vendor stack that enhances data utilization.
  • Strong foundation in data governance, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and implementing predictive models using tools such as R, Python, and SQL.
  • Expert knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and experience in developing dashboard suites that emphasize clarity, accuracy, and effective storytelling.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple projects and deadlines in an ambiguous environment.
