The Maintenance Mechanic II performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs of mechanical systems and equipment throughout assigned facilities. This role may involve complex assignments spanning multiple systems or cross-department interactions, requiring specialized expertise in locksmith, HVAC, motors, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical System Maintenance and Repair – 80%
- Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment such as steam valves, traps, coils, radiators, water softeners, unit heaters, water heaters, and circulatory pumps.
- Installs, services, and repairs electric motors, heaters, coolers, refrigerators, and other related equipment using various hand and power tools.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs air compressors and air conditioning equipment using machine tools.
- Services and repairs appliances including fans, toasters, washing machines, and gasoline pumps; may also maintain, operate, and repair motor vehicles.
- Maintains central steam and chemical water treatment systems and other systems by diagnosing malfunctions using gauges and test instruments.
- Fabricates, assembles, and tests parts as needed using metal fabricating tools, hand tools, power tools, and welding torches.
- Safely operates electrical, air powered, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical tools, as well as heavy equipment as assigned.
- Installs new or replacement equipment and materials by performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, masonry, glazing, boiler, hydraulic, pneumatic, irrigation, heating, refrigeration, ventilating, and air conditioning work.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs malfunctions in boilers, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, refrigeration, ventilating, and related systems.
- Opens, repairs, maintains, and installs locks, doors, and related electronic interfaces, ensuring compliance with life safety regulations.
- Maintains shop master key boxes, records key issuance, and operates key machines to duplicate or generate keys as needed.
Special Projects – 20%
- Participates in meetings, workshops, training sessions, and seminars to gather or convey information needed to perform job functions.
- Assists in special projects or technically complex maintenance and repair tasks as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of trade school with at least 2 years of related experience.
- Alternatively, 4 years of related experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
