Job Description
Position Overview
Siemens Mobility is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to contribute to the operations and project management teams responsible for managing complex plant-wide manufacturing schedules (including Engineering and Procurement elements) for advanced rail vehicle projects. In this high impact role, you will drive manufacturing departments and projects to meet the Master Schedule by developing, tracking, and maintaining master schedules for multiple projects. You will also participate in capacity planning, process improvements, lean manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain management, along with high-level strategic planning, forecasting, and bid preparation. You will work closely with management at various levels and present schedule and workload data on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to shop floor and executive management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage development, tracking, and reporting of complex plant schedules using Primavera P6, based on inputs from functional department managers.
- Understand both micro and macro level issues related to plant performance, forecasts, challenges, and trends.
- Participate as a key team member in developing plant-wide master schedules.
- Simplify problems to accurately determine impacts.
- Proactively drive operations managers and the broader team to implement mitigations and recoveries.
- Develop cross-functional reports to monitor schedule performance against baselines and factory manpower loading.
- Coordinate and lead various meetings, including project progress reviews with multiple levels of management.
- Become a subject matter expert by driving the team to overcome roadblocks and delays through innovative methods and alternative planning strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Project Planning/Controls, Scheduling, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Industrial, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong Excel and computer skills.
- Travel: Up to 5% as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field (e.g. Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar) with an interest in Project Management/Project Controls.
- Experience with scheduling software such as Primavera in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Understanding of manufacturing/operations processes, ERP/MRP systems, and the Rail/Rolling Stock/Heavy Manufacturing Industry.
