Quality Assurance Technician, 3rd Shift
Job Description
Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for executing corporate and plant specific Food Safety, Quality and Laboratory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain product quality by analyzing manufacturing and engineering requirements and devising testing methods and procedures;
- Establish product quality documentation by writing and implementing quality assurance procedures;
- Interact with the leadership group, production team members, and maintenance departments to improve and maximize plant output, efficiency, quality and safety;
- Manage Quality Control Program that ensures that product is inspected to meet acceptable safety quality standards;
- Maintain and achieve internal quality targets and measurements;
- Ensure Production and other support areas of the plant are maintained to the highest standards and in strict conformation to GMP standards;
- Achieve quality targets and ensure accurate records of quality compliance;
- Ensure the cleanliness, sanitation and overall organization of manufacturing areas;
- Ensure consistency with quality standards, practices, and policies;
- Support change efforts at the manufacturing plant to improve and enhance quality systems;
- Support training of quality procedures throughout the plant;
- Communicate with production regarding productivity status and discrepancies;
- Perform other duties assigned by Executive Management to support the department;
- Safeguard and maintain company equipment and property, including Personal Protection Equipment (PPE);
- Ensure all areas are kept clean at all times;
- Attend all company training sessions;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must read, write and communicate in English.
- Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations.
- Must be able to taste all foods with no aversions or allergies.
- Must follow GMP Policy – wear company issued shirt, hat, safety glasses, earplugs and hairnet in production areas.
- Able to work under pressure in a very fast paced environment.
- Able to obtain HACCP, SQF practitioner and IBWA certification (within 1 year).
- Able to perform root cause analysis.
- Able to communicate and work well with people at all levels of the organization.
- Able to receive, analyze and report information efficiently.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) – ability to follow laboratory SOPs.
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) – ability to keep proper records.
- Strong computer literacy – MS applications, databases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze large amounts of data and determine deficiencies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- 2-4 years’ experience in food processing.
- Associate Degree in a related field.
Compensation
This position is classified as Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime). The expected hourly rate for this position is between $21.00 – $26.00 per hour based on a full-time schedule. Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting the actual hourly rate.
