Job Description

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; and providing physical and psychological support to patients, their families, and friends. The RN keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they exist and as they are modified. The RN also understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as outlined in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides cooperative and courteous service to patients, visitors, staff, physicians, volunteers, and other customers to ensure a positive experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize workload efficiently and responds positively to change in support of departmental and hospital goals.
  • Demonstrates ongoing competency in clinical skills and completes the ED competency skills on an annual basis.
  • Participates in unit meetings, peer reviews, and quality improvement activities.
  • Accurately assesses patients at triage and utilizes appropriate decision-making skills to enter patients into the system.
  • Maintains patients' rights, assures their privacy, and provides care, information, and reassurance to patients, including those who are restrained.
  • Completes thorough and accurate assessments on each assigned patient and performs reassessments as indicated.
  • Supports an environment conducive to the development and enhancement of working relationships by accepting additional assignments and assisting others as needed.
  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards and stays updated on all pertinent federal, state, and hospital regulations, laws, and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN License in State of Illinois
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
  • Minimum 5 yrs of Nursing Experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • TNCC/CEN certification
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Bilingual capabilities preferred
