Job Description

Position Overview

This position is for a network security analyst responsible for ensuring that information systems and computer networks are secure against hackers and cyber-attacks. The role is ONSITE at 701 W. 51st, Austin, Texas 78751 (no remote work) and only LOCAL candidates residing within a 50‐mile radius of the location will be considered. Crop to Crop resumes are accepted. Subject to change per the hiring team. Candidates must already reside in Texas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure security of information systems and computer networks against cyber threats.
  • Monitor network traffic and server logs for unusual activity.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and develop recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Investigate security breaches and devise appropriate strategies.
  • Install, administer, and troubleshoot security software and hardware issues.
  • Update software with the latest security patches and maintain network security measures.

Required Qualifications

  • Evaluate and review existing DSHS Cybersecurity tools and controls to determine gaps, provide recommendations, and implement risk reduction plans for the organization.
  • Design, prepare, and present supporting documentation such as project plans, status reports, briefings, presentations, and internal/external stakeholder communication materials.
  • Use research, interviews, meetings, and workshops to understand the organization’s strategic objectives, processes, issues, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Interact extensively with internal or external stakeholders, including business partners, to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems or security gaps.
  • Fulfill basic project management duties to ensure the successful completion of short-term engagements, including creation of project charters, communications management, risk management, and resource management.
  • Edit documentation to ensure format, clarity, and cohesiveness while managing updates and revisions to technical literature. Provide progress reporting documents and briefing materials as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in evaluating and reviewing cybersecurity tools and controls with a focus on risk reduction.
  • Proven ability to design and present comprehensive project documentation and stakeholder communication materials.
  • Experience using research methods, interviews, meetings, and workshops to drive organizational improvements and strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrated skill in project management, including managing communications, risks, and resources for short-term engagements.
  • Strong background in editing and managing technical documentation to ensure clarity and cohesiveness.
