Position Overview
Proof is a high-growth startup in the legal tech industry, offering a best-in-class legal services platform used by thousands of law firms. Based in Detroit, MI (Hybrid – remote and in office), our platform enables law firms and pro se parties to access efficient, transparent, and accessible legal services traditionally out of reach. We are on a path to double our business this year and are building a team to help us scale rapidly.
We are seeking an Applications Engineer to join our Business Operations Team. In this role, you will be a key player in scaling and optimizing our processes using data-driven insights and scalable solutions. You will directly impact our clients, internal teams, and service reliability by building, managing, and optimizing workflows with Python, JavaScript, and Go. Additionally, you will act as the voice of the user to prioritize product improvements and launch impactful features.

Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and optimize workflows and tools using Python, JavaScript, and Go to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Leverage data to analyze system performance and automate processes, ensuring reliable business operations.
- Serve as the voice of both internal and external users to prioritize product improvements and launch new features.
- Collaborate with teams including Product, Server Operations, Investigations, E-Filing, and Customer Support to centralize bespoke processes into scalable systems.
- Utilize tools like Make.com and various scripting languages to design and deploy automation that streamlines workflows.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience using Python, JavaScript, or Go to build and maintain systems.
- 3+ years of experience with tools such as G Suite, database monitoring tools, and other business applications.
- Strong SQL skills with at least 2 years of experience writing advanced queries.
- Hands-on experience in managing and improving workflows using web-based tools and systems.
- Proficiency in automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make) to streamline processes.
- Proven ability to analyze complex problems, propose creative solutions, and execute with precision.
- Experience balancing multiple high-priority tasks and consistently meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust-based relationships across teams.
- Sound business judgment and critical thinking skills, using data to drive decision-making.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in high-growth operations, tech, or startup environments is strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma).
- Experience launching "zero-to-one" low-code projects or new platforms.
- Advanced experience with Make.com or similar automation tools.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and building integrations between tools and systems.
Compensation
Salary range: $85,000 - $105,000 based on experience and location.
