The applications data science team is seeking a seasoned data scientist focused on experimentation and exploratory analysis in conversion optimization and feature usage behavior. This role supports user growth of subscription services and drives product development and optimization including A/B Testing, causal inference, and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Experimentation: Improve quality of experimentation, including hypothesis generation, statistical techniques, rare event detection, and underlying infrastructure.
- Optimization: Conduct hyper parameter optimization and perform exploratory/ad-hoc analyses to enhance customer experience.
- Advisory: Analyze data to identify key findings and provide actionable recommendations to engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of industry experience managing Controlled Experimentation.
- At least 3 years of industry experience with: experiment design and hypothesis testing, applied statistics with experimentation optimization techniques, variance reduction and rare event detection, data mining skills (SQL, Scala, PySpark), and proficiency in Python or R.
- Masters or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related academic field.
- Exposure to consumer technology.
- Strong product acumen.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and business.
- Excellent communication skills with experience delivering executive presentations.
- Adept at structuring and solving complex, open-ended problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning.
- Expertise in anomaly detection and causal inference modeling.
- Proficiency in Java or C++ programming languages.
- Familiarity with git for version control.
