Lead, Communications
Job Description
We are looking for a talented individual
with experience and great interest in storytelling/content development, media relations, thought leadership, social media/strategy, influencer marketing, and events management to be a part of our growing Communications team as a Lead, Communications with an emphasis on consumer PR and media relations. The role will report to the Manager of Public Relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of PR strategies through components such as market, category and competitive research, key message frameworks, media lists and content recommendations
- Own the creation of PR toolkit materials including, but not limited to, press release templates, media lists, editorial calendars, speaking points, speakers bureau, fact sheets and media kits
- Develop and deliver compelling PR content requiring little-to-no editing prior to publication including, but not limited to, press releases, media alerts, bylines, case studies, media kits and award nominations
- Execute full media relations campaigns including target and narrative identification and development, relationship building, reporting and cross-channel syndication with little to no oversight
- Stay on top of performance and applicable media relations trends to proactively identify and pitch media opportunities, content recommendations and storytelling ideas to clients
- Build and sustain relationships with key members of the media and industry influencers and trade associations
- Provide onsite support for client events including trade shows and workshops
- Offer keen content abilities through brand editing of original content, understanding of content strategies and how to translate into relevant PR opportunities and deliverables
- Develop and manage influencer programs including, but not limited to, research, identification and negotiation
- Build strong relationships with other departments within the agency to deliver on our core values of perseverance, integrity, tenacity, curiosity, and heart
- Stay on top of PR, social media, influencer and content trends to influence internal and external understanding
- Maintain accountability for individual utilization and account billability rates. Manage personal hours, budgets, and timelines appropriately
Requirements:
- Established relationships with business, consumer and trade media; key relationships with business media in Pittsburgh and Atlanta
- Experience in consumer packaged goods and hospitality a plus
- Strong writing and critical thinking skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset; innovative self-starter
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-impact environment
- Experience using MuckRack, Netbase, WordPress, Tagger Media and/or Sprout Social is preferred
- Proficient in MAC-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook Power Editor and Outlook
- Additional duties upon request
Education/Experience:
- 5-7 years of public relations experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university required
- PR strategy development and execution
