Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an innovative mid-level structural engineer to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) Team in support of the FAA’s Infrastructure Engineering Center. Location: Fort Worth, Texas • Schedule: Full-time, 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday • Salary: From $115,000.00 per year. This position requires 75% on-site presence in Fort Worth and 25% travel/telework (travel expenses fully covered). A security clearance is required; candidates must be U.S. citizens or valid green card holders with at least 5 consecutive years of U.S. residency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the Infrastructure Engineering Center by developing site-specific project plans, specifications for solicitation, and contracting of engineering projects for FAA approval.
- Perform site surveys to collect project data and research applicable standards, codes, and ordinances.
- Analyze site survey findings to offer recommendations and solutions for identified issues.
- Prepare summary trip reports within two working days of trip completion.
- Compile project documents including scopes of work, drawing and specification lists, operational checklists, cost estimates, project schedules, and other necessary documentation.
- Provide technical engineering support for new construction and renovation projects, including evaluation of shop drawings and design proposals.
- Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) and recommend resolutions for engineering issues.
- Conduct engineering feasibility studies and provide technical input to help plan, budget, and coordinate engineering projects.
- Develop project drawings in accordance with FAA standards and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Civil Engineering Degree (B.S.) with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer with Structural Design expertise.
- Experience with tower, shelter, and similar structure projects is required.
- Knowledge of Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), general building construction techniques, codes and standards, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), fire detection, security, and site work is desired.
