The Project Engineer position is an entry level opening across the Midwest and Mid‑Atlantic offices. The Entry Level Project Engineer will plan, direct, and coordinate activities on civil industrial or transportation projects, ensuring that project goals are met within the prescribed time frames and funding parameters.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand plans and specifications.
- Follow administrative procedures as outlined in the Project Administration Manual.
- Possesses field experience: inspects construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction/safety standards.
- Familiar with CPM scheduling program; produces accurate schedules as needed.
- Supervise and coordinate submittal processes and working drawing requirements.
- Prepare or direct preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, environmental impact studies, and designs as necessary.
- Analyze, prepare, and monitor job costs and production budgets.
- Execute and approve subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices.
- Coordinate, price, and assist the Project Manager in settling change orders and claims.
- Manage time and organize office filing systems efficiently; maintain accurate project correspondence files.
- Consistently apply and enforce the Safety Policy at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree (B.S.) from a four‑year college or university.
- Experience Required: 0-2 years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing programs, as well as CPM scheduling programs (e.g., Primavera Project Planner) and Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with the project team and clients.
- Capable of reading, analyzing, and interpreting business reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Skilled in presenting information and responding to questions from managers, clients, and groups.
- Strong ability to work with mathematical concepts including fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
