Position Overview

With over 100 years of experience, the RMD team is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) department. In this role, you will define radar system requirements, design architectures and algorithms, and collaborate with agile software development teams. This position is on-site in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze radar system performance data with respect to requirements.
  • Identify performance deficiencies and propose effective solutions.
  • Define and prototype new algorithms to enhance system performance.
  • Present plans, designs, and system performance to peers, internal leadership, and external customers.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to agile software development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements.
  • Work in capability areas including:
    • Electronic Protection, signal processing, applied mathematics
    • Hypersonic threat defense
    • Tracking, discrimination, search, and battle manager interfaces
    • Radar calibration, diagnostics, deployed site support
    • Modeling and simulation of tactical software

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) with a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Battle Management Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (BMC4I) systems, Radar Systems, or signal processing techniques.
  • Experience with developing, documenting, and maintaining processes, methods, and tools.
  • Ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.
  • Experience working with Matlab, C/C++, Java, or DOORS.
  • Strong analytic, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with system-level requirements development, documentation, and maintenance or design of system-level software architecture.
  • Understanding of radar system concepts including detection, discrimination, tracking, and signal processing algorithms.
  • Experience in developing and coding system models, algorithms, test vectors, and analysis tools.
  • Interest and experience in Information Assurance/Cyber Engineering requirements.
  • Experience using AI/ML and signal processing in database and algorithm design and enhancement.
  • Previous military service.
  • Ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions to complex user needs.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or greater.
