Job Description
Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the North American team at either Senior Engineer or Manager level, depending on experience. This individual will lead electrical engineering activities across utility scale renewable energy projects from early stage development through construction and commissioning.
The role will serve as the internal subject matter expert for electrical systems and grid integration, partnering closely with Development, Construction, Procurement, and external engineering partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical engineering support across utility scale solar, storage, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects throughout North America
- Manage interconnection technical workstreams including utility coordination, study reviews, modelling inputs, and risk mitigation
- Oversee EPC and contractor technical evaluations, bid reviews, and selection processes
- Manage external engineering consultants, Owner’s Engineers, and technical advisors through project milestones
- Review and approve electrical designs including HV/MV systems, substations, collection systems, transmission interconnections, grounding, protection, SCADA, and plant controls
- Support project development activities including site feasibility, due diligence, equipment strategy, and cost optimization
- Partner with Construction and Project Management teams through execution, commissioning, energization, and closeout
- Provide technical input into budgets, schedules, procurement strategy, and project risk assessments
- Establish internal engineering standards, technical specifications, and best practices for the Americas business
- Support financing, lender diligence, and independent engineer processes as required
- Serve as the primary internal electrical engineering stakeholder across the North American portfolio
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree: in Electrical Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license: preferred
- 7+ years: of experience for Senior level / 10+ years for Manager level
- Strong experience: within utility scale renewable energy, power generation, transmission, or power delivery sectors
- Direct experience: supporting project development through construction and commissioning
- Strong knowledge: of interconnection processes across ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, SPP, or other North American ISOs/RTOs
- Experience: managing EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and multi stakeholder technical workstreams
- Strong understanding: of substations, medium voltage systems, transmission interconnections, protection systems, and plant controls
- Commercial mindset: with ability to balance technical quality, cost, and schedule
- Strong communication skills: with ability to work cross functionally in a fast paced growth environment
