Position Overview

As a Strategic Alliance Manager – Pharma - Custom Biotech based in the Los Angeles / San Diego Region, you will build and optimize key partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, research organizations, and more. You will collaborate with internal teams and partner companies to drive joint initiatives and align relationships with the company’s overall business objectives while enjoying a field‐based role with 25% national travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic alliances with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, research organizations, and other relevant partners on new and existing opportunities.
  • Foster strong relationships with existing partners, working closely with leadership and Key Account Executives to ensure consistent communication and goal alignment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (business development, regulatory, R&D, marketing) to define partnership objectives, develop business plans, and set success metrics.
  • Act as the liaison between the organization and partner companies, coordinating internal teams to deliver on commitments such as co-development projects and joint licensing opportunities.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to identify partnership opportunities in emerging pharmaceutical markets.
  • Address conflicts and manage risks associated with alliances using a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Prepare and present quarterly reviews to senior management, highlighting partnership performance and strategic recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant sales or similar experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry in business development, alliance management, or strategic partnerships
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical drug development, commercialization processes, and the regulatory landscape
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and managing complex partnerships
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
  • Familiarity with global markets and international collaboration processes

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: $135,700 - $251,900 (Actual pay determined based on experience, qualifications, and location)
  • Eligible for incentive compensation according to the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan
  • Field-based position with 25% national travel
