Job Description

Position Overview

County of Los Angeles is seeking a highly motivated, career-minded individual for the role of Network Systems Administrator I. This full-time position located in Los Angeles County, CA, offers competitive Compensation of $81,081.84 - $109,268.88 annually and is part of the HUMAN RESOURCES COUNTYWIDE EXAMS department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic network administration functions under direct supervision, including configuration, deployment, testing, repair, and maintenance of hardware, software, and firmware upgrades.
  • Deploy hardware, firmware, and software upgrades for network appliances, gateways, and telecommunication devices.
  • Assist in deploying hardware and software upgrades for servers and storage systems (e.g., Blade Systems, Server Virtualization, Active Directory, clustering, VoIP, video conferencing systems).
  • Implement network security solutions such as access control lists, intrusion prevention systems, and security patch management, including the configuration of firewalls and other protective measures.
  • Address enterprise cybersecurity threats including malware, viruses, spyware, adware, trojans, worms, and phishing attempts under direct supervision.
  • Configure system thresholds, perform network tests in response to alerts, and conduct data, configuration, and database backups for system recovery and business continuity.
  • Assist in site assessments including cabling, rack elevations, electrical setups, HVAC, and peripherals, as well as support video and web teleconferencing solutions.
  • Document and track network assets including virtual servers, software subscriptions, and mobile device management from purchasing through decommissioning.

Required Qualifications

  • Option I: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field AND one year of full-time experience in LAN design, configuration, or administration within a centralized IT organization within the last five years.
  • Option II: Two years of full-time experience in a centralized IT organization in LAN design, configuration, or administration within the last five years.
  • Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative mode of transportation when required.
  • Physical Class III - Moderate: Involves standing, walking, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting as specified.
  • Submission of official documentation for your degree (diploma, transcript, or verification letter) within seven (7) calendar days from the end of the filing period.
