Based in Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art facility produces intricate components for national security products and services. The Mechanical Engineer II role is responsible for performing and analyzing routine to moderately complex engineering functions including quality control design, specifications, and process improvements to achieve cost-effective and reliable manufacturing and measuring processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in the design and project/process management of products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under technical guidance; develops manufacturing and measuring methods that designate tooling, gages, acceptance equipment, and processing procedures.
- Defines and acquires equipment necessary to manufacture and inspect parts to ensure product quality.
- Develops test procedures and performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, capability studies, quality audits, and data reviews to assure product manufacturability.
- Interacts with partners, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
- Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, and recommends improvements for products, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes to enhance productivity and quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and based on business needs.
- United States Citizenship.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Ability to obtain and maintain, if required, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated application of design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to engineering projects.
- Proven ability to analyze engineering designs and specifications for efficient and reliable manufacturing or acceptance processes.
- Strong inclination to document improvements and innovations in approved processes.
