Job Description

Position Overview

The System Engineer I is an experienced engineer responsible for managing the engineering and design needs of material handling systems projects. Working under the leadership of a Design Manager, you will independently lead large portions of projects—from concept through design—ensuring that drawings, calculations, and technical reports meet customer specifications and regulatory standards. You will also manage a team to deliver quality, on-time, and on-budget project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering duties for the design, fabrication, and installation of material handling systems.
  • Ensure that drawings and supporting calculations comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Develop calculations and integration for conveyor designs.
  • Master customer standards and specifications for conveyor design.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of codes and standards for conveyor fabrication and installation.
  • When assigned as project lead, develop and communicate detailed schedules of engineering tasks.
  • Track and report project progress to the Director of Engineering.
  • Write technical reports, handbooks, and bulletins for staff and customers.
  • Manage your team to deliver high-quality installation and fabrication drawings.
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of the Company.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders/customers.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design and development of engineered systems with a focus on material handling
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team setting, multitask, and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership, time management, communication, and customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a heart to serve

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing teams
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and 2D/3D CAD software (Inventor, Revit, and AutoCAD preferred)
  • FEA analysis software experience (e.g., RISA 3D)
  • Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
