Position Overview
Avantus develops, owns, and operates utility-scale clean energy projects across California and the Desert Southwest. With over a decade of industry leadership and strategic investment from KKR and EIG, Avantus delivers affordable, reliable clean energy solutions that meet America's growing energy demand.
In this role, the IT Specialist supports and improves IT Service Delivery solutions, procedures, and processes – including endpoint support (for Windows and Mac OS devices), application administration, ticket management, and user management. This is an onsite role based in our San Diego office headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the San Diego office onsite by addressing physical infrastructure changes and user issues with minimal supervision.
- Provide first-layer support for IT tickets in a timely, professional, and properly prioritized manner, escalating when necessary.
- Troubleshoot and support hardware, software, and enterprise application issues.
- Coordinate with external vendors for the delivery and return of IT assets.
- Utilize MDM, ticketing, and asset management platforms to troubleshoot issues and track IT inventory.
- Propose and drive iterative improvements to IT systems and processes under departmental supervision.
- Support IT initiatives including implementations and evaluations of programs and processes; provide project management oversight where applicable.
- Maintain updated IT documentation for both the IT team and the company intranet for end users.
- Adhere to responsible change management, documentation, and business continuity best practices.
- Maintain updated project trackers, reports, or dashboards to support IT projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT team members, internal stakeholders, and external IT solutions partners to develop effective solutions.

- Ability to work directly with stakeholders across various business units to resolve or escalate IT issues.
- Proactive approach in driving projects and resolving IT tickets efficiently.
- Knowledge of enterprise applications and operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, and iOS.
- Experience managing enterprise-level cloud applications such as ERP systems, advanced document management systems, password management, and data analytics.
- Experience administering and supporting a wide variety of cloud and desktop applications for the enterprise.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure including Azure AD, MS 365, and Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-4 years of experience with Avantus core IT Infrastructure solutions such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager/Intune, JAMF, Entra/Azure AD, Microsoft Office, Exchange, MS365, Zoom, Slack, Freshservice, and Salesforce.
- Experience or familiarity with IT and InfoSec industry-standard compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting.
- Ability to present and clearly explain project or plan-of-action proposals in group settings and document them through established change management processes.
- Explicit experience with Entra/Azure AD and MS 365 cloud infrastructure.
- Industry-standard ITSM, Networking, Application, or Security certifications are a plus (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft certifications).
