Position Overview

Join Accor at Fairmont Austin – one of Austin’s largest luxury properties offering 1,048 guestrooms and extensive event space. As the Business Development Sales Manager, you will work in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing team to drive sales and revenue for accommodations, meetings, events, and food & beverage. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Management: Provide market coverage in the absence of Sales Managers by managing all bookings in excess of 8 rooms on peak for all market segments. Log lead information into the Opera Cloud system, prepare proposals, coordinate client follow-up, and ensure a smooth handover back to the Sales Manager.
  • Conduct prospecting efforts to build a robust pipeline of business opportunities through primarily telephone-based outreach, along with participation in market blitzes, trade shows, or client networking events.
  • Assist with site visits for remote sellers by arranging guestroom and restaurant reservations, coordinating amenities, and inviting partners for site inspections including Audio Visual and DMC services.
  • Manage relationships with outside catering venues to maximize guest room block opportunities and referral potential.
  • Organize monthly team-wide prospecting activities to bolster business development efforts.
  • Maintain an accurate client and account database in Opera Cloud while adhering to all Accor system standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor of Arts degree or college diploma is required. Progressive experience in a similar capacity is a definite asset, and college coursework in a related field is helpful.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of personal computers, be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and have a familiarity with Opera Software and hotel Property Management Systems. Ability to assemble and interpret integrated spreadsheets is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly, evaluate options quickly, and perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the capability to assimilate complex information from various sources and work with financial data.
  • Physical Requirements: Sedentary work with occasional exertion of up to ten pounds of force, and the ability to work long hours when required.
