Job Description
Position Overview
The Workers' Compensation Paralegal will assist attorneys and claims personnel by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; research, investigations, fact checking; and legal group litigation reporting. This is a fully remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with attorneys and claims professionals to discuss assigned projects.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, discovery responses, responses to subpoenas, and legal correspondence.
- Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provide written analysis to attorneys.
- Assist attorneys with document production on subpoenas and litigation matters.
- Develop and maintain reporting on litigated matters.
- Maintain spreadsheet on approved Workers' Compensation attorneys.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and occasionally stressful environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, and related software.
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field is required; Paralegal certificate required; Workers' Compensation experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field is preferred.
- Previous insurance industry related experience preferred.
