Job Description

Position Overview

In this role as a Medical Assistant (MA), you will support patient care under the supervision of a provider in TX or a physician in FL. You will assist physicians and nursing personnel, help organize the clinical environment, document patient care, and ensure strict adherence to policy, infection control, and confidentiality protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties within the Medical Assistant's practice, including operating diagnostic equipment, removing staples, changing wound dressing, obtaining cultures, administering non-intravenous medication, collecting specimens (via venipuncture or capillary), performing EKGs, conducting quality control checks, and sterilizing equipment.
  • Rooms patients according to policy and procedures, ensuring proper preparation for examinations.
  • Documents patient care accurately and in a timely manner in the medical record.
  • Coordinates patient care following physicians’ directions and company policies.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality, treats patients with courtesy and respect, and practices standard infection control precautions.
  • Organizes exam and treatment rooms by stocking, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
  • Conducts telephone and in-person screening limited to intake and gathering of information.
  • Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO) and performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain certification within 180 days of employment
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at the time of hire or within 30 days
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Proven knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Bilingual ability
