Position Overview

Our Medical Office Specialists are vital members of the team who manage both patient care and front desk administrative duties, ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional service. This role supports the mission and values of Universal Health Services by providing high-quality, cost-effective care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities such as checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparing patients for exams.
  • Collects patient history, performs screenings per provider guidelines, assists physicians/nurses with various procedures, and charts patient information accurately.
  • Handles clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing charts.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Qualifications: Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Specialist
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out processes according to clinic protocol
  • Knowledge of general medical office procedures
  • Understanding of end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
