Base is seeking an EH&S Engineer to support our manufacturing operations in Location: Austin, TX. In this role, you will perform hazard assessments, conduct incident investigations, address employees' safety concerns, and collaborate with site leaders to prevent and reduce injuries. You will also ensure environmental compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines established by Texas Health and Safety Codes, OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH.
- Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
- Execute industrial hygiene studies to analyze manufacturing byproducts against human health thresholds.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, including implementing machine guarding when needed.
- Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits.
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Develop safety solutions to resolve EHS hazards and concerns following a safety order of precedence including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, work practice controls, training, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety and/or environmental engineering
- Experience Required: 3+ years of experience in the design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to research and apply best industrial and working practices to deliver effective services
- Knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems
- Strong experience in interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
- Experience with emergency response communication and incident management related to hazardous and non-hazardous material releases
