Job Description

Position Overview

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering and consulting firm, is expanding our in-house design studio with a full-time entry level Graphic Designer. We are seeking a self-motivated and creative professional with persuasive graphics, illustration, and layout skills. In this role you will collaborate closely with fellow designers, senior design leads, and marketing/sales teams. This position offers flexibility with remote options or work onsite near BC offices in Columbus, OH; Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; or Portland, OR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of process and branding to complete pursuit and project deliverable tasks.
  • Serve as aBC Brand championby upholding and advancing company visual standards.
  • Support document layout, graphic and illustration development for pursuits, presentations, and deliverables.
  • Assist with slide formatting, interview graphics, animations, and revisions.
  • Create graphics including cover designs, brochures, maps, informational visuals, process diagrams, charts, and conceptual illustrations.
  • Prepare and communicate instructions for final assembly and print preparation with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Maintain high quality standards with zero tolerance for errors in editing, proofreading, and spell checking.
  • Attend team meetings, communicate project status, and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Seek constructive design critiques from senior team members and continuously improve your work.
  • Maintain an organized archive of assets and follow established Creative Services practices.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding schedules, revisions, and graphic needs.

Required Qualifications

  • A strong portfolio showcasing document layout and graphic development (site link or PDF provided).
  • BA/BS in Graphic Design, Communication, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of related graphic design experience.
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Compensation:Location A: $46,000 - $62,000; Location B: $51,000 - $68,000; Location C: $55,000 - $75,000.
