Job Description
Position Overview
The Network Analyst is part of the Information Management Services Division (IMSD) responsible for all aspects of technology in Milwaukee County. In this role, you will assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining network systems – focusing on the wireless infrastructure at the Milwaukee County Zoo. You will work on documenting network inventories, reviewing network diagrams, defining IP schemes, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams to ensure optimal network performance.
MUST BE CURRENT WI, 100% Onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain network systems including wireless routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and controllers.
- Scout Zoo buildings and document an inventory of all network devices with details such as product type, model, function, and vendor.
- Create a depository of images and reference materials depicting current technologies and network configurations.
- Collaborate with vendors to research emerging technologies and diagnose network problems using multiple monitoring tools.
- Work with Procurement Services by preparing and evaluating bid specifications for network hardware and software.
Required Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of experience with wireless networks.
- 1 to 3 years of experience with documenting inventory.
- Ability to work independently and ask questions when needed.
- Excellent documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage business leaders in non-technical conversations.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Familiarity with WAN, VPNs, multicast, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, IP management, and network monitoring tools.
- Thorough understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, routers, switches, and wireless systems.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong problem-solving abilities.
