Position Overview
Our client, a cutting-edge scientific research and development organization, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Research Scientist specializing in Biotechnology to join their innovative team in St. Louis, Missouri, US. This role is crucial for driving groundbreaking research in genetic engineering, protein analysis, and drug discovery while leading a team of scientists, designing complex experiments, interpreting results, and contributing to scientific publications and patent applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of research scientists and technicians while providing scientific direction and oversight.
- Design, execute, and optimize complex experiments in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
- Develop and validate novel assays and methodologies for various R&D projects.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data using advanced statistical and bioinformatics tools.
- Contribute to the formulation of research strategies, project planning, and prepare detailed research reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
- Manage laboratory operations including reagent procurement, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on research initiatives and intellectual property strategies.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in biotechnology and relevant scientific literature.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of post-doctoral research experience in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in leading research projects and managing scientific teams.
- Expertise in CRISPR gene editing, recombinant DNA technology, protein expression and purification, or mammalian cell culture.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blotting, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry).
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Excellent understanding of experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Hybrid role: Requires presence in the St. Louis, Missouri laboratory for critical experimental work and team collaboration.
