The Financial Analyst is an entry level role focused on supporting a project in accounting and finance related functions. Each project at Kiewit is run like a small business, with the Financial Analyst concentrating on critical tasks such as cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance. This role will develop skills in executing processes and utilizing tools related to various cost and revenue components including labor, construction equipment, materials, and subcontracts. The position is integral to the month end close process and assists with preparing a financial reporting package for project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Recognizes the importance of being a team player by adapting to project needs and assisting in other areas as needed.
- Fosters relationships with the Operations team and shows a willingness to learn about the work.
- Understands the payroll and HR process workflow, mastering systems used to hire, transfer, terminate, and pay all employees.
- Manages purchasing workflows, ensuring invoices are received, paid, and internal controls are maintained.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the accounts payable process and troubleshoots payment or vendor issues.
- Understands intercompany and client billing processes with an emphasis on timely and accurate documentation.
- Reviews and adjusts cost, budget, and forecast reports to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Provides first-rate customer service and maintains clear, concise communication among team members.
- Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Program and implements EEO and labor laws at the project level.
Required Qualifications
- 0 - 2 years of financial/data analysis experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management or equivalent
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
- Ability to relocate anywhere in the country
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Willingness to travel or relocate as required (up to 50%)
- Effective oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passion for continuous improvement
- Ability to access all parts of a construction site across varying climates and environments
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future
- Must have a valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, and other advanced Excel functions
- Previous internship experience
