Position Overview
CACI is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern for Summer 2026 to join their team focused on protecting standalone and network-connected systems. In this part-time on-call intern position, you will gain hands-on experience in defensive cybersecurity practices, system hardening, and secure OS image deployment under the guidance of seasoned security professionals. This role offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the protection of critical testing infrastructure while developing industry-aligned skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting security assessments of systems and networks
- Help implement and monitor security controls for standalone and networked testing devices
- Support development and maintenance of secure OS image deployment processes
- Participate in vulnerability scanning and assist with remediation efforts
- Document security configurations and procedures according to industry standards
- Learn to use security tools for network monitoring and threat detection
- Assist with security patch management and testing procedures
- Support the team in maintaining security compliance for testing environments
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Basic understanding of operating system security (Windows and Linux)
- Familiarity with network security concepts and TCP/IP fundamentals
- Interest in defensive cybersecurity practices and system hardening
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
- Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new security tools and technologies
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous coursework or projects related to cybersecurity
- Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools
- Basic understanding of system imaging and deployment technologies
- Experience with virtual machines and containerization
- Knowledge of security compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS)
- Interest in industrial control systems or equipment security
- Experience with network analysis tools
- Understanding of authentication mechanisms and access controls
- Participation in cybersecurity competitions or CTF events
- Knowledge of secure coding practices
