Position Overview
This posting is for 2 positions within the Global Design function. The available roles are Senior Designer, NSW Modern Womens Apparel Product Design and Senior Designer, NSW Classic & Street Womens Apparel Product Design. You’ll work closely with design management and category team members in design, development, and merchandising to gain experience, enhance your design skills and deepen your understanding of Nike’s design philosophy, products, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create original apparel product designs that reflect our design philosophy and standards, with guidance from senior designers and the Design Director.
- Proactively implement all apparel product details including construction, color, form, style, fit, performance, and trims.
- Partner and clearly communicate with Design, Technical Development, and Product Management teams to ensure design feasibility within product creation timelines.
- Present design concepts to various internal audiences with support from more senior designers.
- Create presentation materials that effectively communicate the seasonal design concepts.
- Build awareness of current trends, colors, and sports-related products through market research linked to consumer needs.
- Provide design support for the broader Apparel Design team as needed, beyond assigned projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or a related field – or any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Ability to apply and perform design skills such as drawing/sketching, ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development, and layout.
- Familiarity with current trends, color, and design.
- Basic knowledge of pattern making, draping, materials, trims, garment fit, garment construction, and manufacturing.
- Basic understanding of the apparel industry, marketing principles, and the development process.
