Job Description

Position Overview

Our manufacturing client is seeking a designer who lives and breathes color, patterns, and textures to help shape the visual and tactile language of their interior acoustic product lines. Sitting at the intersection of Textile, Interior, Industrial, and CMF product design, you will use aesthetics, texture, pattern, and curated color to convey a strong visual brand language through creative storytelling. You’ll work onsite in the Dallas office, collaborating closely with industrial designers and fabrication teams to create products that are not only beautiful but also manufacturable and acoustically effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Concept Development – Develop seasonal and long-term directions (color palettes, patterns, textures) for acoustic products in commercial architecture; create mood boards, trend boards, and narratives tied to brand and market trends; translate interior and architecture trends into actionable strategies.
  • Pattern & Surface Design – Design surface patterns, textures, and visual compositions for wall, ceiling, and partition acoustic systems; explore scale, repeat, rhythm, and layering to enhance aesthetics and acoustic performance; produce detailed spec sheets and artwork files for production.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work with interior designers and industrial/product designers to integrate concepts into overall design solutions; collaborate with management, production, and fabrication to balance design intent with manufacturing constraints and cost targets; prepare and deliver presentations for internal reviews, client meetings, and product launches.
  • Standards, Documentation & Quality – Create and maintain guidelines, specification documents, and finish schedules; review prototypes, first articles, and production samples to ensure alignment with the original intent; support quality teams in resolving color/finish issues and improving consistency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Textile Design, CMF, or a related field.
  • 2–5+ years of industry-specific experience or an interior product design role, with a preference for those experienced with interior architectural products, wall systems, ceilings, or furniture.
  • Strong background in:
    Color theory and systemization (palettes, harmonies, neutrals vs accent strategies);
    Texture creation (developing 3D elevations from 2D surfaces);
    Pattern creation (repeats, scaling, composition, and material-driven design).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and common design tools for product development.
  • A demonstrable portfolio showcasing interior product design and related projects.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, on-site environment with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with acoustic products, wall panels, ceilings, or architectural systems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes related to printing, laminating, textiles, or CNC-cut materials.
  • Understanding of sustainability in materials (low-VOC finishes, recycled content, circularity considerations).
  • Basic knowledge of CAD/Revit/SketchUp or other 3D tools for product visualization in space.

Benefits & Perks

  • Relocation assistance to Dallas provided for the right candidate.
  • Opportunity to work onsite in a collaborative, studio-style environment with hands-on material exploration and product mock-up sessions.
