Position Overview
TRS is dedicated to enhancing retirement security for public education employees across Texas. We are recruiting for Cybersecurity Specialist T&R Fraud and Cybersecurity Engineer T&R Fraud positions within our Information Security Office. In this role, you will work closely with cybersecurity teams, IT staff, and agency employees to safeguard digital assets, implement security policies, and manage fraud risk. Location: 1900 Aldrich Street, Austin, Texas, 78723, United States; Alpha. Compensation: $81,168.00 - $135,044.00 Annual Salary. Requisition ID req1241. Employment Type: Unclassified Regular Full-Time (URF).
Key Responsibilities
- For Cybersecurity Specialist T&R Fraud: Perform fraud risk management by assisting with queries, generating fraud trend reports, tracking and analyzing data, collecting and preserving digital evidence, and supporting incident response. Engage in security and privacy risk management by helping to prepare assessment reports and risk mitigation strategies. Contribute to training and awareness initiatives and support policy drafting and fraud risk committees.
- For Cybersecurity Engineer T&R Fraud: Execute advanced fraud risk management by conducting detailed queries, analyzing network traffic, evaluating penetration testing results, and performing script-based automation on multiple platforms. Manage security and privacy risk through audit report preparation and risk mitigation. Drive training initiatives, coordinate with subject matter experts, and lead the development and drafting of cybersecurity policies and strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a closely related field; alternatively, a high school diploma (or equivalent) with additional full-time, progressively responsible experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience Required: Two to four years of directly related experience in cybersecurity, information security, systems analysis, or IT business analysis plus one year of experience developing and delivering security/privacy training. Advanced degrees may substitute on an equivalent basis.
- Requirements: For Cybersecurity Specialist T&R Fraud, the ability to obtain certification as a Systems Security Certified Professional (SSCP), Security+, or similar within 180 days of start date; for Cybersecurity Engineer T&R Fraud, possession of certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with risk management frameworks, particularly those aligned with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
- Familiarity with security monitoring tools, network and web assessment tools, and scripting languages.
