Job Description

Position Overview

Sisulu-Walker Charter School of Harlem, New York State’s first charter school serving grades K–5, is dedicated to academic excellence, character development, and deep community engagement. We are seeking a Director of Marketing & Enrollment Strategy to lead our marketing, communications, and enrollment initiatives, ensuring full enrollment and enhanced visibility.

Location: Harlem, New York City

Schedule: Part-Time, Hybrid (3 Days On-Site), Contract-to-Hire

Compensation: $75,000–$90,000 annually, contract-to-hire, commensurate with experience. Eligible for performance-based bonus.

Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate the school’s value proposition and brand messaging.
  • Lead integrated marketing across the website, email, social media, community outreach, and local advertising.
  • Refresh and manage the school website.
  • Create engaging content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube, including short-form video.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to source, capture, and publish authentic content from classrooms and events.
  • Oversee and support the full enrollment funnel, from awareness to confirmed enrollment.
  • Ensure timely follow-up with prospective families, including inquiry response, application support, and pre-lottery engagement.
  • Coordinate enrollment and lottery communications in partnership with school operations, ensuring compliance with NYSED/NYCDOE charter enrollment requirements.
  • Support open houses, tours, family information sessions, and community-based enrollment events.
  • Build and sustain enrollment pipelines through partnerships with Harlem-based organizations and early childhood centers.
  • Track KPIs related to awareness, inquiries, applications, and enrollment conversion.
  • Provide monthly updates to the Principal and Board of Trustees.
  • Achieve full enrollment by the start of the academic year.
  • Increase the volume and quality of inquiries and completed applications.
  • Establish a sustainable enrollment pipeline through community partnerships and outreach.
  • Launch consistent, high-quality digital and social media content that strengthens brand visibility.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of marketing experience, preferably in education or youth-focused organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience with enrollment marketing, content strategy, and community engagement.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work three days per week on-site in Harlem.
