Job Description

Position Overview

Affirm is reinventing credit to be more honest and friendly by allowing consumers to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. Our Fraud Strategy & Analytics team is seeking an Analyst II, Fraud Analytics to drive improvements in Trust and Safety online decisioning and user journeys.

The role offers a remote-first culture along with competitive compensation including a transparent pay structure. USA base pay ranges from $140,000 - $190,000 (for CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) and $124,000 - $174,000 for other states, plus an equity component (Equity Grade: 6).

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively explore data and identify opportunities to accelerate product development or improve existing Trust and Safety products, driving analytical work on online experiments to optimize fraud decisioning strategies.
  • Translate analysis and trends into recommendations to improve identity verification and fraud conversion rates.
  • Develop scalable frameworks to manage tiered cutoffs for proprietary fraud machine learning models.
  • Evaluate innovative data sources to solve fraud risk and collaborate with the data engineering team to maintain core analytical datasets.
  • Own the end-to-end analytics workflow, including defining success metrics, socializing insights, and creating actionable dashboards and reports.
  • Partner with Machine Learning to build fraud and identity verification strategies for new products, markets, and user segments.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to identify high-impact points in the funnel to drive user acquisition and retention.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 2-4 years in customer risk management at a payments or financial company.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and Python or R.
  • People Skills: Ability to collaborate and influence across multiple teams.
  • Communication: Capable of clearly conveying findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Product Knowledge: Eagerness to understand and enhance product functionality.
  • Multi-Tasking: Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as engineering, statistics, math, or economics.
  • Risk Knowledge: Familiarity with payment processing fundamentals and industry risk trends, including risk strategy development.
