Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
- Prepares patients for examination and sets up rooms for appropriate procedures.
- Assists providers with examinations, cosmetic procedures, and surgeries.
- Documents all patient notes in the electronic medical record (NexTech).
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by safeguarding medical records and keeping information confidential.
- Responds to patient telephone inquiries.
- Maintains pathology and laboratory logs.
- Administers medications and injections as needed.
- Ensures a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Keeps exam rooms fully stocked by inventorying supplies, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Maintains equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging repairs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
- Adheres to professional standards, policies, and procedures to protect the reputation of the dermatology practice.
- Maintains a professional image through proper attire and grooming.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to effectively triage patients to obtain the chief complaint.
- Excellent customer service, communication skills, and general etiquette.
- Ability to understand patient needs and concerns.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency with computers and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited medical assistance program with eligibility to sit for the national Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam.
- Experience requirements: Ideally two years in a physician medical practice or a minimum of 1 year in either cosmetic or general dermatology; new graduates are welcome to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in dermatology or plastic surgery is preferred.
