Job Description

Position Overview

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Specialist Lead! This role plays a key part in supporting the development and administration of an effective regulatory compliance program to ensure adherence to state regulatory and statutory requirements. The successful candidate will research, investigate, and resolve compliance issues, maintain clear communication with regulators, and manage agency and producer appointments in alignment with state regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Leads team of compliance professionals with corporate compliance work.
  • Participates in the administration and oversight of compliance programs for all jurisdictions and product lines written by CopperPoint.
  • Works with the CCO, VP Compliance, team members, and the Compliance Oversight Committee to develop and implement compliance programs including the identification of regulatory requirements, creation of control plans, monitoring changes, and addressing areas of non-compliance.
  • Assists in coordinating and administering licenses held by the CopperPoint group and in making required filings with state agencies.
  • Coordinates and maintains logs of responses to regulatory inquiries and matters.
  • Researches, documents, communicates, and tracks compliance-related legal and regulatory changes from various authorities, ensuring necessary changes are implemented.
  • Assists in reviewing new and updated insurance products, policies, and forms for compliance with state statutory requirements.
  • Supports coordination of regulatory examinations, audits, responses to data calls, surveys, and complaints.
  • Manages regulatory/compliance software as needed.
  • Performs additional compliance, legal, and administrative tasks.
  • Supports the Compliance Committee, ad-hoc, and special projects.
  • Helps develop, implement, and continually improve processes and procedures.
  • Prepares reports and metrics for the compliance team as needed.
  • Coordinates with Underwriting and Business Development & Distribution regarding appointment statuses and state regulations.
  • Ensures agencies and producers have valid licenses, are properly appointed, and maintain complete documentation as required by state regulations.
  • Maintains records and supports other departments on an as-needed basis.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of insurance industry experience preferred.

Compensation

  • Compensation: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 annually.
  • Salary may vary based on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
  • In addition to base salary, an annual discretionary bonus may be included.
