Position Overview

As a seasoned Software Engineer on the Billing Platform team, you will architect, design, and maintain GEICO’s core billing systems—including invoicing, commissions, payment processing, and analytics—to deliver seamless financial and customer experiences. Your work will directly impact our company’s innovation and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee high-level and low-level designs for one or more sub-systems of the billing platform.
- Ensure the quality, reliability, usability, and performance of the solutions.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight for multiple billing teams, aligning technical vision with business objectives.
- Lead the design and development of complex software systems, including evaluating code quality and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Identify and prioritize technical challenges that may pose risks, and develop efficient solutions.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and other departments to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Facilitate effective communication and cross-team collaboration to achieve common goals.
- Mentor and guide engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Provide technical guidance to help team members overcome challenges and make informed decisions.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional, hands-on software development experience.
- Strong experience in architecting and designing large-scale, complex systems.
- Proficient coding skills in Java, Kotlin, Golang, or similar languages, with the ability to produce high-performance, production-quality code.
- Experience with a diverse set of technologies including SQL/NoSQL databases, Kafka, Spark, and Airflow.
- Expertise in cloud computing tools, DevOps practices, observability, telemetry, and test automation.
- Proven ability to collaborate across engineering teams and other functions to drive decision-making and transparent communication.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial technology sector with a focus on billing, payments, subscription management, and financial reporting.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing workflow engines.
