Position Overview
BCBST is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Representative to join our Senior Care Customer Service Department. You will provide vital support to Medicare-eligible members by assisting with finding providers, resolving billing issues, obtaining prescriptions, and more, all while multitasking between talking and typing to document important information. This role is ideal for individuals with customer service experience, especially in a medical office or when working with seniors. Important: Applicants must live within a 50-mile radius of Chattanooga.
Training: This position begins on June 23rd, 2025 and includes 12-14 weeks of training with working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM EST. The training schedule includes one day on-site for the first half and multiple days on-site for the latter half. After training, work hours will rotate weekly, with shifts starting as early as 8:00 AM EST or as late as 9:00 PM EST.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, investigate, and resolve customer inquiries accurately and promptly.
- Handle customer service inquiries via telephone, chat, email, and TEAMS.
- Document all customer communications clearly.
- Educate callers to achieve resolution on the first contact.
- Pass mandatory testing and ensure participation and attendance in all sessions.
- Adapt to rotating schedules and work overtime as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer service support role.
- Experience working in a medical office or with the senior population is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be capable of talking and typing simultaneously in a clear and concise manner.
