Job Description

Position Overview

Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, cross docking and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervises most processes directly including workforce and equipment scheduling. Responsible for making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level. Involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary. Reviews truck runs based on location of accounts, volume, costs, customer requirements and private fleet utilization. Reviews daily orders for additional private fleet opportunities based on the above requirements.

Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Hours may vary depending on business needs)

Compensation: $70,900 - $91,950 base salary, bonus eligible up to 12% of the base salary

Key Responsibilities

  • People: Communicate performance standards; interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire; monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance markers with appropriate counseling/recognition.
  • Operations: Supervise logistics operations (customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, documentation); evaluate and recommend process improvements; assist in new associate training; provide relief coverage when needed; ensure operational compliance through thorough system knowledge; complete records and reports accurately and timely.
  • Finance: Ensure compliance with financial policies (inventory control, returns, damages); understand decision-making impact on profitability; closely manage working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
  • Safety: Align day-to-day management with the location’s safety strategy; provide associates with training, feedback, and direction for safe performance; ensure adherence to all regulatory and company safety policies.
  • Growth / Customer Experience: Understand and commit to location-specific customer goals; identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Fleet/Assets: Plan work assignments to maximize effective use of fleet and warehouse equipment; work with associates to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 - 4 years related functional experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel, work the required schedule and location, complete the employment application, and successfully pass a background investigation and drug screening
  • Must meet physical requirements, including the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, occasionally lift up to 25 lbs, and perform necessary vision tasks (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception)
